The Supreme Council of Universities Approves the Establishment of the First Faculty of Artificial Intelligence in the Middle East at Kafrelsheikh University


 

The Supreme Council of Universities in its council No (685) on 16/2/2019 approves the establishment of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence in the Middle East at Kafrelsheikh University in a preparation to the issuance of the republican decree and the study will begin in the next academic year 2019/2020. This comes within the framework of the universitys endeavor to develop its outputs to cope up with future jobs via focusing on future sciences and help in forming the future of education and learning by using innovative methods via providing the opportunity of high-quality, intelligent digital education in line with sustainable development vision in Egypt 2030.

As well, the president Prof Dr Maged el Kemary mentions that the artificial intelligence is the new bandwagon on which services, institutions and future infrastructure of the state will depend to support the transformation by the state towards adopting smart cities model and upgrading government performance at all levels through the development of artificial intelligence mechanisms, techniques and legislation, so that they are an integral part of the governmental work system in the state.

He adds that the impact of artificial intelligence has extended to all fields of our daily lives and I is expected that artificial intelligence will soon become an integral part of all electronic systems used to sustain human life, so one should focus on artificial intelligence, exploit it on the best way to maximize its use in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development via narrowing the gap between Egypt and the developed world in skills and reaching classes of developed countries via an objective vision and political will supported by determining the resources needed to meet the challenges.

On the other hand, he stresses the universitys keenness to integrate artificial intelligence within the educational system as a result of the rapid development of applications of artificial intelligence. It is expected that educational systems will change in the future to artificial intelligence as it will include a radical change in how to manage students, staff members, curriculums and educational environments and how to transform the student from a recipient into knowledge-making partner via graduating young people who are skilled in tools of knowledge economy and are ideologically and creatively qualified to make the future aspired by the state.
