The Progress of Kafrelsheikh University Classification within “Webometrics” in July 2016 Report


The president Prof Dr Maged el Kemary said that Kafrelsheikh University has ranked progress in “Webometrics” classification as it maintained its rank No 6 over the level of Egyptian Universities whose numbers are 62 governmental universities; the rank No 16 Arab among 976 universities at the Arab level; No 18 at the level of African Universities among 1493 universities and No 1403 at the level of International Universities.

No Egyptian or Saudi or Israeli or Iranian or Turkish Universities has not appeared in the classification within the top one hundred world-class university while 55 American University has topped the top one hundred university, china with 6 universities, Canada with 5 universities and United Kingdom with 7 universities.

Alexandria University has topped the Egyptian Universities Classification and No 3 among Arab Universities while Cairo University come in the second place among Egyptian universities, the fourth level among Arab Universities, the fifth level at the level of Africa and No 730 at the worldwide. The best Arab University (King Saud University, Saudi Arabia) has fall behind No 338 in the global rank as well as the best African University (Cape Town University- South Africa) has fall behind No 332 in the global rank. US Harvard University has topped the world ranking followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the second place.

Three Chinese universities have topped the Asian classification; Shikyanj University has topped the Asian universities and No 34 globally followed by Beijing University and it comes No 38 globally, then Tisnjua University has come in the third place among Asia Universities, while Japanese Tokyi has fall behind the fourth place among Asian universities and 56 globally, but Oxford University has topped the European Universities classification and came No 10 globally followed by British Cambridge University who came No 14 globally.

Many institutions specializes for, across the world, the classification of universities and among the most prominent international classification, there are “Times” ranking, “Shanghai” ranking as well as “Webometrics” ranking which follows  “Cybermetrics” groups of researches in Madrid subordinate to scientific information center, one of the institutions of the supreme council of researches, the major institutions of scientific research in Spain. The classification depends on four indicators of evaluation, summed up in four criteria and they are: size intended to educational and research sources in university website by 20% percent; visibility intended to the number of internet websites that refers to the university website and represents 50%;  rich files through the size of databases on university website through google and represents 15% and scholar obtained from Google Scholar and represents 15% and the classification “Webometrics” is done every six months and the results are announced at the end of January and July of each year.
