The Faculty of Nursing, Kafrelsheikh University, organizes awareness and educational campaign for the prevention and early detection of diabetes in front of the Faculty of Science under the authority of the president Prof Dr Maged el Kemary in the participation of the students of the Faculty of Nursing within the celebration of World Diabetes Day.
Dr Mohga Abed el Aziz, the dean of the Faculty of Nursing, stresses that this campaign aims to draw the attention of students for the causes of this disease, its symptoms and its complications. She adds that guiding brochures have been distributed about diabetes during the celebration and unhealthy dietary habits as eating fried, fatty, sweet and starches food that lead to obesity, heart disease, high fat and sugar in the blood.
Dr Maged el Kemary mentions that this campaign comes within a series of awareness and educational campaign of various diseases aiming to the early diagnosis of the disease especially in the pre-injury sugar campaign, working for awareness of students and employees, giving them some advices which have resulted in the delay of diseases infection or avoiding the infection completely as well as to raise the awareness of the seriousness of rising and falling of the sugar and coma resulting from this and making them aware of diseases accompanying to diabetes such as rising blood pressure, rising fats in the blood (cholesterol) and triglycerides, as well as publishing health awareness about the disease in general and how to deal with patients in these cases.
Otherwise, he adds that this campaign also aims to raise awareness by the latest ways of dealing with this disease in its various aspects including proper nutrition ways.
He points out that, unfortunately, there is still no radical cure for diabetes, so one should educate patients and healthy people of the danger of sugar, transfer this awareness from the students and employees to their families and friends especially after the noticeable increase of people with diabetes in Egypt, where statistics indicate that the number of infected people is about 8 million Egyptians.
