Prof Ahmed Sekotory served as the Lead Consultant and Director of Gynaecological Oncology and Lead for Minimal Access and Robotic Surgery at The Christie and University Hospital of South Manchester Hospitals,Manchester; UK (2007 – 2014). He has also served as the Educational Supervisor for the Subspecialty Training Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at both Hospitals. He has completed the Royal College Membership (MRCOG) in the year 2000, followed by the higher accreditation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (CCST) in London in 2004 (Kings College Hospital); and was awarded dual accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology in 2006 (Guy’, St Thomas & King’s College; London, UK). He has completed his MD degree at King’s College, London University, and conducted a multicentre research project in collaboration with the Cancer Research
Institute of West Tennessee (USA) towards his MD thesis. Prof Ahmed sat in several UK National and
International Committees and an editor and reviewer to international scientific journals. He served as a council member of the British and Irish Association OF Robotic Gynaecological Surgeons and Education Committee Member of the Society of the European Robotic Gynecologic Surgeons. He has served as a visiting professor in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Cairo, and is currently an Honorary Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Alexandria and Zagazig Universities (Egypt). He is a member of the Hospital Modernisation Committee at Assiut University. Prof Ahmed Sekotory is also the Secretary of the Egyptian Specialist Federation for Health System Improvement NGOs. He is a member of the Egyptian Higher National Committee for Medical Training and CME.
Doctor Ahmed has recently been elected as a Board Member of the African Network of Health Reform NGOs for Universal Health Coverage. Dr Ahmed is interested in fertility preservation in female cancer patients. Besides Minimal Access Surgery his professional interests include increasing public awareness, teaching, research, quality in service delivery, and medical education and training. He is keen to actively participate in Middle-East and African Healthcare Reform with particular interest to women health and Gynaecological Cancers where he is currently involved in several related projects. He has 30 peer-reviewed publications; several published and presented abstracts, and a book chapter on Robotic Surgery published in the USA.
