In the framework of Kafrelsheikh University’s strategy to strengthen international cooperation and openness to the world’s leading institutions and bodies supporting scientific research, Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of the University, receives today Prof. Yasser El-Shayeb, Professor of Rock Engineering at Cairo University and a trainer accredited by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The meeting takes place on the sidelines of the specialized workshop entitled “Writing a Successful Proposal for Horizon Europe Program,” organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy in cooperation with DAAD.
During the meeting, the President affirms that hosting distinguished international experts is one of the main pillars of the university’s strategy to build a world-class research system and transfer the latest international practices to researchers. This enhances their ability to compete in international funding programs and supports the university’s standing among leading universities regionally and internationally.
In this context, the workshop activities are launched as part of Kafrelsheikh University’s strategy aimed at raising the efficiency of researchers and empowering them to prepare professional research proposals capable of competing in the Horizon Europe program — the European Union’s largest program for funding scientific research and innovation. This contributes to increasing international funding rates, strengthening academic cooperation with global universities and research institutions, and enhancing the university’s position in international rankings.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid adds that Kafrelsheikh University has recently succeeded in expanding its international relations network and concluding numerous partnerships with prestigious European universities and institutions. This opens broad horizons for researchers to participate in joint international projects. He stressed that true investment begins with investing in minds capable of producing knowledge and transforming it into solutions that serve society and the national economy.
For his part, prof. Yasser El-Shayeb, Professor of Rock Engineering at Cairo University and DAAD-accredited trainer, expresses his pleasure at being hosted by Kafrelsheikh University. He confirms that the university possesses a promising research environment and distinguished scientific capabilities that qualify it to achieve a strong presence in European funding programs.
Prof. Yasser El-Shayeb explains that the workshop focuses on the practical aspects of preparing research proposals, how to formulate research ideas professionally in accordance with European evaluation standards, as well as mechanisms for building international alliances and managing research projects — all of which increase researchers’ chances of winning international funding.
Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, affirms that the workshop represents one of the important mechanisms for supporting the postgraduate studies and scientific research system. He notes that the university is working according to an integrated plan to increase the number of international research projects and enhance researchers’ participation in European funding programs.
The Vice President adds that training in preparing research proposals according to international standards contributes to improving the quality of research outputs and increasing the chances of winning competitive projects. This positively reflects on the university’s international ranking and enhances its role in knowledge production and innovation.
Prof. Amany Mohamed Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, affirms that cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) represents a successful model of international partnerships that contribute to transferring global expertise to the university. She points out that supporting researchers and enabling them to access international funding sources contributes to producing applied research linked to societal needs and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The Vice President adds that the university pays great attention to providing an academic environment that stimulates innovation and promotes a culture of joint research work, which solidifies the university’s position as an educational and research institution with regional and international impact.
For his part, Prof. Ramadan El-Domany, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, explains that the faculty’s hosting of this workshop stems from its role in supporting scientific research and advancing the capabilities of faculty members and researchers. He affirms that the faculty is keen on organizing specialized scientific events that contribute to preparing qualified research cadres capable of competing for international grants and keeping pace with the latest global trends in preparing research projects.
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy notes that the workshop witnesses wide participation from faculty members and researchers from various university faculties. It includes intensive practical training on preparing research project proposals according to Horizon Europe program standards.
This is a new confirmation of Kafrelsheikh University’s commitment to building an advanced research system, enhancing the capabilities of its academic cadres, and consolidating its position among leading universities regionally and internationally.
