Kafrelsheikh University has achieved a new international milestone that reflects its distinguished academic and research standing at both regional and global levels. The university ranks 518th worldwide in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 rankings. It also wins the 17th position among African universities and 9th place among Egyptian universities — a fresh confirmation of the university’s leadership and scientific and research excellence.
The ranking also highlights Kafrelsheikh University’s strong performance across numerous academic disciplines, as the university places 62nd globally in Plant and Animal Science, 211th globally in Pharmacology and Toxicology, 237th globally in Biology and Biochemistry, 267th globally in Engineering, and 362nd globally in Agricultural Sciences.
In addition, the university achieves advanced positions in Environmental Science and Ecology, Computer Science, Chemistry, and Materials Science. These results reflect the university’s scientific diversity and the strength of its research output across various academic fields.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid, President of the University, expresses his profound pride and appreciation for this global achievement. He affirms that the university’s continuous progress in major international rankings results from a clear strategy aimed at elevating the higher education and scientific research system, enhancing the quality of international publications, supporting researchers and scientific innovation, and expanding academic and research cooperation with prestigious international universities and institutions.
He confirms that the university has become one of Egypt’s leading institutions, having achieved a strong presence on the global higher education map in a relatively short period. This success is attributed to the substantial support provided by the Egyptian state and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, alongside the university’s advanced infrastructure, modern research laboratories, and distinguished academic staff.
Prof. Yahya Zakaria Eid adds that the university’s excellence in specialized fields such as Plant and Animal Science, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Biology, and Biochemistry reflects the quality of its academic and research programs and confirms its success in building an integrated scientific system capable of competing regionally and internationally.
In the same context, Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, affirms that this international achievement reflects the significant progress made by the university’s postgraduate studies and scientific research system in recent years. He notes that the university has placed great emphasis on improving the quality of internationally published research and encouraging joint research with global universities, which has contributed to elevating the university’s academic reputation and improving its position in international rankings.
Prof. Ismail Ismail Ibrahim adds that the U.S. News & World Report ranking is based on a set of precise criteria that measure the quality of academic and research performance, scientific reputation, volume and impact of internationally published research — all of which confirm that Kafrelsheikh University is steadily advancing toward consolidating its position among the world’s distinguished universities.
