It is one of the basic departments in the faculty where the department initially provides a clear and detailed explanation of the matter in general in the term of its molecular structure, crystal shape, types of bonds, and physical, mechanical and electrical properties. Then it deals with all the materials that the dentist will use in various branches of dentistry (operative dentistry - fixed and removable prostheses - dental implants – endodontic treatment - maxillofacial surgeries - orthodontics and others). This will be achieved by studying each material in terms of its composition and its physical, mechanical, chemical and biological properties, in addition to knowing the different forms in which these materials are supplied to the dentist and how to manipulate them in dental clinics.
